White Conch Dharma Center is a community driven, non-profit organization providing meditation retreats and classes for those seeking to become a powerful example of steadiness and positive change in the world. Our mission of sustaining a conducive space for meditation retreats is in jeopardy and we need your help!
Since 2012, we have had to place people on waiting lists for our weekend retreats because we don't have enough room. Our goal is to make the benefits of meditation available to those who need it and so we are constructing Doonkar Retreat House! We need your help in raising $75,000 by November 10 in order to prepare the building for winter.

About The Building
Doonkar Retreat House is located on 65 acres of pastoral Wisconsin countryside, a stone's throw from our Norbu House facility. Doonkar is the Tibetan word for White Conch ... a symbol which represents enlightened speech. This 4,700 square foot building will provide accommodations for an additional 22 persons and features a spacious dining room with a covered porch.

Despite shopping around for the best prices available, the retreat house is projected to cost $503,000. We have put an incredible amount of resources into raising funds organically and have come a long way. At just under $300,000 raised we have enough to "weather-proof" the building.
We are carefully considering our financing options to complete Doonkar Retreat House in its entirety, but our campaign goal of $75,000 will put us in a safer place. After accomplishing our goal, we will be able to insulate the building, complete the heating system, and install electric fixtures and lights ... items that will allow us to continue to work through the winter months.
Every dollar donated goes directly to the financing of this project and, as a non-profit, is tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable.
Why Retreat?

Retreat acts as an "accelerated training" in positive inner change and is essential to effecting transformation at the deep levels of our being. It is said that the progress made in one week of retreat is greater than even an entire year of personal meditation. Under the spiritual guidance of Domo Geshe Rinpoche, White Conch retreats offer a powerful method of healing which ripples out from our participants into the world.
